A possible cure for superheroes deeply divides courageous Captain America and arrogant Tony Stark. Factions of superheroes divides themselves in to Team Captain America and Team Stark. Black Widow and Hawekye must choose sides. Plus, Bucky Barnes is possibly behind the murder of King T'Chaka, a member of one of the factions, and T'Challa his son plans to kill him.
After another international incident involving the Avengers, world leaders and political powers move to get the Avengers to be registered in lieu of previous missions that have caused collateral damage. This results in the Avengers having to decide whether to remain free or to be registered. It also results in two factions with one led by Captain America, who believes that heroes should remain free and the other led by Iron Man, who surprisingly begins supporting government regulation and oversight. And all the while, Cap must try and protect his old friend Bucky from both Tony and the schemes of a new villain who emerges with a plan that could shock the world.
If you, like me, didn&#39;t watch Agents of Shield, read the recent comics or watch and read all the other extended content Marvel throws at you, the first hour of this movie is going to be boring and confusing. It doesn&#39;t really pull you into the story (if any) either. <br/><br/>We get a movie with a boring political premise, after that, characters and heroes we&#39;ve come to love over a couple of movies suddenly go haywire. Characters we&#39;ve seen bonding over several movies, been through almost 326 apocalypses and were ready to die for each other 47 times suddenly hate each other. Why? Because politicians divide them. Or something, I&#39;m still not quite sure. <br/><br/>Then popcorn time starts. Special effects splatter the screen in a fantastic manner, the colors in this movie are simply awesome. We gaze at superheroes clashing it out and it simply looks extremely good. Black Panther does some awesome stuff, some talking, more fighting. Fighting. Fighting. And eventually it ends. The movie is 3,5 hours, but feels a solid 5. <br/><br/>If you forget the story (which is easily done) this is a visually stunning movie. Too bad that&#39;s all it is.
Livid. When this movie comes up in a conversation, I sweat. Make like Luke Cage and boil yourself in acid before seeing this… thing. This is not only the worst superhero movie I&#39;ve seen, but contextually the most infuriating cultural artifact I&#39;ve ever consumed, including Fantastic &#39;94 and that time my fast food dinner had weevils. It&#39;s the Sonic &#39;06 of motion pictures, and the Plan 9 of political discourse. <br/><br/>I&#39;m in the middle of a 3+ part comic series reviewing this movie ( https://porkcow.deviantart.com/art/Ambrosia-1-673666877 ). But in summary, it so far removes the characters from not only what they are in the film series that this movie killed (not financially, but for actual MCU fans), but eradicates every single basic idea that these icons represent. Tony stark, across all movies, is a libertarian who would rather legalize doomsday devices than stoop to the terrors of fascism. Captain America is a soldier who has only once in his career gone over his superior&#39;s head to serve his country, and is as afraid of vigilantes and terrorists as the nation he serves. In this &quot;movie&quot; however, they switch brains and lose any trace of personality or ration they had. The &quot;film&quot; also has visuals, music and dialogue that are not only bland and brainless, but further defeat any identity that this vast ensemble of characters have. They&#39;re all the same blandly-scored, brightly lit liberal airhead with nothing better to do than go against their own self interest and life-long creed. Not even the children were spared. <br/><br/>Batman vs Superman: a bit too commercial, and Doomsday was Lex Luther&#39;s son for some reason. But Batman was Batman, Superman was Superman, and the music, story, and visuals oozed personalty at every turn. Superman II: one of the worst movies in the genre, and the plot was a mess, but at least Superman was Superman and the movie looked and felt like a Superman thing. This: Scriptwriter Christopher Markus needs to understand making several decent movies doesn&#39;t exonerate his name from this atrocity. In the words of my favorite Superhero &quot;Though my detest for you as a human being is Brobdingnagian, I can assure you what I&#39;m about to do is nothing personal&quot;. Aside from Netflix offerings, I&#39;m quitting Marvel. Apologize, retire, and take McFeely with you. Bon voyage.
This chronicle of an epic clash between two equally noble factions, led by Captain America and Iron Man, proves as remarkable for its dramatic coherence and thematic unity as for its dizzyingly inventive action sequences.
